Here are a couple of paintings I am working on today.  A 1805 evening gown inspired by a piece from Metropolitan Museum and an 1915 satin and net evening gown.

If adventure will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek it abroad...

Whenever I read this sentence from Northanger Abbey "If adventure will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek it abroad..."  I always think of Catherine hanging out of the window of a carriage with her bonnet's ribbons blowing in the breeze and excitement in her eyes.  If you look closely you will notice that the I of the "if" looks like a rock tower with a Gothic window.
This painting is an original 5x7 watercolor.

Emma Bookmarks

These small  bookmarks are hand painted on watercolor paper.  It's Hartfield and Emma on one of her rambles to Highbury.
