With Valentine's Day coming I would like to share with you a few memes I have made for your enjoyment.  As I was reading Northanger Abbey last night I came upon John Thorpe's "proposal" to Catherine and I thought it would make quite a comical Valentine.

He is risen!

On this beautiful Easter weekend I want to share with you this beautiful video about our Savior.  I am so thankful for Him and his sacrifice for all of us. I know that because He lives, our lives can be beautiful and happy.

In Russia we have a beautiful tradition on Easter.  We greet each other with "Christ is risen" and the other person  replies "Truly, He is risen".  I love that tradition.  And I believe that He has risen and one day will come again.

Catching up..

It has been a while since I last posted. Here is a look at some pieces I have done since then.

This is one of the Love Quotes, Edward Ferrars, Sense and Sensibility.  I tried to do one for each of Jane Austen's novels, but unfortunately Northanger Abbey and Mansfield Park do not have a straightforward declaration from it's leading men.

Here are a few things I have been working on lately.  

Persuasion.  Capitain Wentworth and Anne walking down the street in Bath.  Inspired by the beautiful closing scene of the 199something Persuasion.

This was a custom work of Captain Wentworth writing THE LETTER and another small custom work of a lady in a Christmas dress.  

 This one is about to go up in my shop.  Opening line of Emma.

First Impressions Painting Two Sense and Sensibility

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.

This is a first of painting in the "First Impressions" series of paintings I am working on right now.  I plan to have one for each of Jane Austen's works.  On this piece you can see Mr.Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet and the opening line of Pride and Prejudice.

Elizabeth in Kent

This is a painting of Elizabeth Bennet at Kent (Rosings and Collinses) on the morning after Mr.Darcy's proposal. She is taking a walk in the park and is about to be presented with a special letter from Mr.Darcy.

Jane's Letter to Cassandra

This was a custom piece and now it is available as a print.

Barton Cottage

This petite watercolor is of Barton Cottage in Sense and Sensibility, you can see Marianne Dashwood wearing a red cloak going on one of her windy day walks.

I know I am stepping away from my usual bookish art, but I wanted to do something green and springy this week.  So here are my latest topiary pieces.

I made another version of Northanger Abbey adventure quote.  But this time I made a mistake and wrote "do" instead of "will".

Upcycled Persuasion box

I found this box at a second hand store and even though it was tiny, it was so cute I had to do something with it. I painted a miniature watercolor of Anne standing on the Cobb in Lyme and decoupaged it onto the top of the box, on the front of the box I painted Captain Wentworth's ship and the inside of the lid is decorated with the words from his letter "You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope."

Easter color collection includes four  paintings of Regency, Victorian and Edwardian dresses.

1805 Evening Gown

The 1805 dress bookmark is finished.  I loved the tiny strawberry plant design embroidered onto it.

In the works...

Here are a couple of paintings I am working on today.  A 1805 evening gown inspired by a piece from Metropolitan Museum and an 1915 satin and net evening gown.
